Well, this is going to depend on whether I work on Hallowe'en. We get to dress up at work, so long as we keep it clean/pg 13. If I'm working, then I plan to dress up as a character from one of the online comics I read. If I'm not working, then no, probably not.

It's more fun to play dress-up and act like a kid when you've people to share with. ^_^

How long it takes to plan depends on the costume. Now, I could just go to Party City or Target and buy one off the rack. I actually was close to doing that, but if I decide to go as Super Girl, there's a certain outfit I want to do, and would need to make my thighs a bit better looking (though that is my own opinion on that little "issue").

If it's a costume that I would have to either cobble together or make myself, then it depends entirely on my own procrastination. For example, there's one comic character that I've been wanting to make a costume for for a few years now; I haven't been able to get the time to sew it up, though.

Well, once again, it has been awhile since I've been on here. :/ Oops?

Not much to report, for all the time spent away, though.

Love life? Still no guy in my life, which I find rather depressing. I also find it rather depressing that girls are apparently supposed to be asking the guys out these days. I'm not entirely certain that's fair, and I can see a lot of affairs starting that way. Why, you ask? Simple. When a guy asks a girl out, they can typically tell at a glance whether they're married/engaged; girls almost always wear a ring of some sort. Guys? Not so much. I'd estimate maybe 50% of married guys wear a ring. How are we girls supposed to know whether a guy is taken or not, aside from asking? And they complain that asking a girl out is stressing! :P

Work? Work has not changed. I got a nice bonus earlier this month, but then, so did everyone in the store, because we met our sales goals. It was nice, and I used it to get some containers to transfer my beads into, as 3/5 of the ones I had were broken in some way. Plus, the new ones have individual lids for the compartments, which is also nice. Anyway, still working in flooring. Not a lot going on there, aside from certain managers being really irritating. So, meh.

Book? Made some progress in writing, but I am once again toying with the idea of trying to draw it into a comic instead of writing. Need to do some editing to get rid of spelling mistakes, and all that fun stuff, also.

Jewelry? Have some new pieces, but not really any new toys. I really would like to get into chasing and that kind of technique, but would need a better torch, as mine really doesn't handle annealing well.

Language skills? No change, really; haven't had the time or space to study, though I'm hoping to cure the latter problem soon.

So, all in all, meh. *shrugs*

Well, while it's nice to know I was going to get a refund on the loan I gave the government, it is sad to know it was spent on nothing fun.

"Fun" would have been paying off more bills. Just to get rid of them, you know? Maybe buy some beads or silver sheet to play with.

Instead, I get to play the "catch up" game with said bills, mainly because I missed the payments last time they were due, in favor of making my kitty healthier.

I'm more in debt, but my pussy has more play in her than she has for months.
I have not used a balance sheet in my checkbook for a few years, now.

This is mainly because, when my last computer died, it ate my spreadsheet that had my account info on it. Putting it back together again was being a pain in the arse, so I just didn't. The stupidity of a college student.

Fast forward to about 1 week ago. The day before I got paid, I had three transactions clear. Also, I made two purchases, based on the fact that I get paid at midnight (auto), so there would be no problem covering the purchases.

The purchases immediately came out of my available balance, causing the three clearing items to bounce.

This is apparently the way the bank has operated for years. Also apparent, is that in the past, my timing has been incredibly lucky (or something). So, that's $57 I won't see again. :(

So, now I get to find my balance sheets and everything, and try making a spread sheet to reflect the last 5+ years of my checking account.

Wheeee~

(What's a word for how you're upset about something that happened to you, but also know you brought it upon yourself?)

I have to wonder about my cat. I have a sneaking suspicion she thinks that the last vet visit (about a week ago) was the best one she'd even had.

"This is great! My paws don't hurt anymore and aren't bleeding, my claws are a manageable length, they've stopped putting that weird stuff into my mouth, I didn't get poked with anything, *and* I got this awesome bright green rocking mouse toy! I could enjoy thi---Zzzzzzzzz~."

(I don't know why, but the bright green one appealed to me, so that's the one I bought her.) She seems to be really enjoying her rocking mouse, too. I just can't tell if she's actually playing with it or just trying to cuddle, though. It does wind up moved in the morning from where it was left last night, though. And makes a funny "goro-goro" sound when it moves.

She'll be rather put out when I finally take her for her shots, I imagine. X(

But that's part of the problem.

I borrowed "Hogfather" from my brother awhile back, and just got around to reading it last night. Started at about 7:40 or so, while waiting for the car to warm up. Read about 10 pages or so, then went home, had dinner, and sat down to read for a bit. Decided to read in bed around 8:30 or thereabouts.

Suddenly remembered that I was supposed to shower tonight, so took my shower around ten. Then went back to reading. And basically finished the book.

At four forty-five in the morning.

It's a good thing I have today off. XD

I can't afford the one I'd love to have (a really, really, big one), and I've off-and-on been toying with the idea of making a fish tank that would go around the entire house (kind of like those hamster trails people can have), but I haven't the space/money.

This doesn't mean I cannot look.

And I've noticed, that the things you can put into a fish tank have gotten a lot more interesting recently.

One of the fish tanks they had on display had this foot-tall Oriental standing dragon in it. This was really neat. There's also a version lying down instead of standing. It's supposed to be a bubbler, so when it's going it has bubbles coming out of it's mouth, like a breath weapon. The one I saw wasn't going, but I really like the concept.

I might just pic one up for the heck of getting one, since they're only about $25. I could paint it to look like a "real" dragon, for instance, and just have it as a conversation piece. (Or, you know, leave it plain to use in the fish tank later on.)

(I wasn't logged on on the 26th, so I swiped this from Indigoskynet. Thanks, Indigo! :) )

I am a (Earth) Goat

-Personality
Occupying the 8th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Goat (or Sheep) symbolizes such character traits as creativity, intelligence, dependability, and calmness. Comfortable being alone to ponder the workings of their inner minds, Goats enjoy being part of a group, but prefer the sidelines rather than the center. Their nurturing personality makes Goats excellent care-givers. They’re quite and reserved because they spend much time absorbed in their thoughts.

Home and alone is where Goats feel most comfortable. There they can express themselves artistically, whether it’s by painting, cooking or participating in whatever artistic endeavors they enjoy. Goats prefer the couch because there they can relax and explore their minds. They don’t need elaborate furnishings; only items reflecting their desire for art.

When traveling or seeking entertainment, Goats prefer groups or venues that hold many people. Goats spend money on fashions that give them a first class appearance. Although Goats enjoy spending money on the finer things in life, they are not snobbish.

[OK - I'm introverted, I'll give it that, and my mother has stated that she thinks I'm too creative for my own good. When I'm at work and there's nothing to do, I'd rather be at home getting something artistically accomplished. And lately my only traveling has been to conventions, which have a lot of people - and I tend to hang out with the artists when I'm not in the Dealer's room.]

-Health
Perhaps because Goats are basically serene, they tend to have fewer health problems. Their fragile exterior hides the fact they’re typically very healthy. When they’re happy, they’re healthy. When Goats become unhappy, especially as a result of romance, they quickly become sick.

[Except for my bouts of bronchitis, this seams fairly accurate. If it is, the only reason I can come up with my getting sick lately is that I'm not terribly satisfied with what I have to live in, atm. Granted, it's better than noting, but I've the equivalent of a 1-2 bedroom apartment in one 11'x 11' bedroom, with some stuff in storage, and not a lot of space to move in, currently.]

-Relationships
Goats tend to be private, so it can take effort to get to know one. The Goat is the one who will decide when and with whom it will share its personal life. As a result, most Goats have few “close” friends, yet they’ll work hard for those they love.

[Yup, not a lot of close friends, but I value those I have.]

-Career
Goats at work prefer being part of a flock. Power and status aren’t important. Goats will only assume leadership roles when asked directly. They’ll never volunteer. Good career choices for Goats include: florist, interior designer, daycare teacher, pediatrician, actor, editor, hair stylist, illustrator, musician, and art history teacher.

[I a few career choices I've though about in that list. Atm, I work retail in a home repair place, and have my side business of jewelry making, which I get to be very creative with. I have thought of becoming a teacher, and have also given thought to both interior design and architecture, along with nursing, and am currently trying to make the time to learn to play more instruments than I already do.]

(Earth Goats – Years 1919 and 1979
Stable with feet firmly planted in the ground, Earth Goats are conservative, independent and practical, but not very confident in themselves. Most important in life is the family and they truly enjoy all that life has to offer. )
[Not so sure about that conservative part, but ok. lol]

This thing is actually scary-accurate. I wonder how my being a Scorpio and having been born a month late come into play with this, though?

No, not ACen, AC - Anthrocon. The biggest Furry convention in North America (maybe the world, not sure on that). I officially have two tables in the Dealer's Den, so will most definitely be returning to PA next summer.

Providing I get the time off from work, anyway. On the plus side, Schedule Girl has known about my having to send in the payment for tables so far in advance, and I shall be letting her know I've been accepted, but there's always the possibility of not getting the weekend off. It happens to be the 4th of July weekend, so that makes it more likely, though they've not blacked that weekend out for a few years now. :S

So, that means over the course of the next few months, I shall be working my arse off for the foreseeable future.

Does this mean I'm not going to be socializing at all? Well, no. I have my DnD game, though that's moved to Wednesdays, so having the time to play comes into question, but otherwise~. We're switching back to Aberrant, so this should be interesting. Playing characters during/shortly after the Event, so totally new to our powers. The DM is making our characters for us this time around, which makes sense, given that there's now 7 of us in the group. I know I shall be playing a character like a Were-Wolf, but that's all I know; The DM took the idea and ran with it. lol Plus, I will occasionally be posting things online. I have my DA and FA accounts to go with, plus I'm on Etsy now, so~

On the other hand, it means scheduling my time as best I can. Right now, my schedule is as follows:
Mondays: Clean (whatever needs cleaning; last week I did the dining room, bathroom, and hall, and that's when I lost steam/got bored. Mostly, this shall be tidying my room and my work areas.
Tuesdays: Crafts
Wednesdays: Game (DnD at least, though I *do* have the Wii I got for my birthday, along with the 'Cube, PSP, DSlite and PS2. Basically, this will be "discharge time.")
Thursdays: Crafts
Fridays: Music (Play trumpet, learn to play guitar, violin, clarinet and xylophone - can't have the instruments just sitting around, you know! . . .In which case I should probably add Keyboard to that, since I've had that since High School and haven't done much with it. ^_^; )
Saturday: Crafts
Sunday: Language (Japanese, and I should brush up my French, among others. Learning Spanish would help at work, too.)

This would be scheduled around my also working the FT day job. And keep in mind that crafts can be anything: knitting, bead work, silver work, custom ponies, etc. My silver work is pretty much limited to what I can make with that silly little torch I have, though - don't have the facilities to do casting and make more of those pieces. :( Then again, the theme for AC this year in Aliens, so that can be very fun. I've already an idea for a pendant, and would like to use a quote from Aaron Williams' PS238 on the back, but my email to him thus far has not been returned. I'm debating whether to email him again, or leave a comment on his LJ page asking if he rec'd the email; for all I know, his spam filter ate it. :j We shall see what happens with it.

So, busy, busy, busy, but it's a happy busy. ^_^

About one week ago, I checked the balance, and learned that I still had $700 free - so I went Christmas shopping for family. Having received my statement, I have now learned that the balance I had free did *not* include the payment for the dealer's space at AC. Which is $400. My statement is not showing the purchases for the holiday gifts yet, and shows I have about $500 free atm.

Meep. :(

How difficult is it to completely fill in a little oval?

Apparently, very.

I live in Minnesota. This means I'm one of the people waiting to find out whether we have a new Senator or not. They're done recounting the ballots, but now 133 have gone missing, so they have to find them. And then you've got your dismissed ballots, and the ones they're contesting.

And I have to wonder, how many of those ballots were dismissed, or are being contested, because voters cannot follow simple instructions?

The instructions are fairly strait-forward. You take a pencil, and completely fill in the oval. They even give examples of what not to do, up at the top of the ballots, such as going way outside the lines, not filling the oval all the way to the lines, or simply marking "x" in the oval. I presume that this is for the same reason we couldn't go outside the lines or just make an "x" in the bubbles when we were taking all those tests in grade school and high school, not to mention college - the machine(s) used to tally the "scores" has trouble with marks like these, and therefore will not count them, as it does not recognize them.

There was an article in the paper last week, with a picture of some of said contested ballots. One had Coleman filled in, then crossed and scribbled out, and Franken filled in rather sloppily - which means the person who voted that ballot gave two answers, and the machine most likely didn't count it. Another ballot had only an "x" in the oval. The third had only one answer, but was just as sloppy as the first.

People, this is not rocket science! If you taking the time to vote in the first place, why didn't you take the time to read how you need to fill out the sheet so your vote actually counts??

And I must admit I'm rather miffed at media coverage of the whole Presidential race. I was only aware of two candidates - Obama and McCain. So, why were there 5 other people/groups running for President that I'd never even heard of? Yes, I admit that I could've done more research, but when they're not mentioned in any of the papers, and not in any of the debates, how are we supposed to know they're even running? Type, "I'm running for President?" into Google? Yeah, that'll probably turn up a lot of results. President of what? My 5th grade class? It's also noted that I cannot really look into the other party's candidates when I don't know what those parties are called in the first place ("Constitutional" party? The hey~?). Sure, I can look them up NOW, but it's rather difficult to do so when you've got the ballot in front of you; somehow, I don't think they'd let me take one home with me to go online and check on these other people. I wonder if it's possible to sue the media for withholding information? O.o

Okay, first off, MFM was good. Didn't turn a profit, but came within striking distance. Sold more of my Silver pieces than normal, which is promising. :) I probably would have done better if I'd gotten everything finished, though. *^_^*

The bad part of the trip was the bus ride down - the first bus, the driver was an absolute bitch. We (Blackfrost and I) took the Megabus from Mpls to Chicago, and the lady told us to get our carry-ons (her pillow and pack) off the table. Then threw a hissy fit about my laptop case (which is now a backpack type) being on the table by 1". Yes, you read that right. One. Inch. She wouldn't let me have it on my lap (this was a double-decker, so there's no overhead storage), and forced me to put it on the wheel well, along with the little case I usually have under my feet. This made the trip down very uncomfortable, as I'm used to riding with my feet raised a bit and something on my lap. To top this off, she called her supervisor, saying my carry-ons were "huge," and at the U of MN stop, took me off the bus, showed me her luggage compartment in the back (I only had one checked piece of luggage), and essentially blamed me for it being full and her having to put three people luggage on the stairs instead of sitting inside properly. She acted like she was being very generous about not throwing me off her bus and making me take the next one (which would have made me miss my transfer in Chicago). I was the only one she did this to. She also then blamed me for her being 15 minutes behind schedule leaving Mpls.

Did other people have more than one carry-on? Yes. One lady had four. Which she put behind the last seat, near the restroom. Which the driver blamed me for needing to put them there.

The driver from Chicago to Memphis thought she was out of her mind, as making me put my carry-ons on the wheel well should not have been necessary, and could actually harm the bus, especially if there's snow on the ground. Of the four buses we took total (two there, two back), she was the only one who hassaled (sp?) us, or even cared about my having my laptop case on my lap. The last time I took megabus (end of June), I had the exact same items (different lap top case, though) and no one cared.

Blackfrost thinks she was power-tripping.

Well, her power-tripping has cost Megabus 2 customers, so I hope she's happy. From now on, I'm driving to cons. This might mean not going to Memphis/MFM anymore, though, given the cost of rentals.

And to top it off, I caught a cold of some kind on the way down. Which I am still fighting. It's moved from my sinuses to my throat, and is trying for my lungs. The con's first aid area didn't have decongestants of antihistimines, but I was able to pick some up when Zervron and some of our gang went to Walmart. And TigerCowboy (the con director!) was nice and brought a box of Puffs (with Vick's vapor rub in it!) to my table in the Dealer's Den. :)

Wish my cold would run it's course. :P If I'm not better by MFF, I shall be very put out. lol.

So I went in for my physical evaluation at the health club this past Thursday. I was able to tell the lady who evaluated me exactly what I wanted to do, and what I was already doing about it, and she took my BMI/FMI with a machine (weird, that), and then ran me through my exercises.

First off, both the BMI and FMI are 10 points higher than where they should be; this is both disappointing and expected at the same time. We went over what I should and shouldn't do to get where I want to go (cardio good, strength training better), and that I should be going to the gym 3 times a week, and working a different set of muscles every visit - this gives the previously worked set about a week to recover.

And I needed that week to recover. We started working upper thigh and buttocks, and I came very close to pulling the muscle that runs along the inside leg from the knee to the groin. I could not walk without pain for 4 days. This made work very interesting. However I am feeling much better now, and am planning on going to the gym again, to work on some upper body stuff this time. Most likely Tuesday or Wednesday, as those are my next days off when I don't already have something planned.

Why so long? Well, I have my 10th high school reunion on Saturday, and a dress to finish for said event.

Call me crazy, but I'd like to be able to move and function regularly. ;)

So, I have my 10th high school reunion coming up the August (has it really been ten years already?), and am having my mother make the dress for me, as it's semi-formal, and I don't want to wear one of her suits (our tastes differ just a little...).

So she takes the needed measurements, then looks at me and says, "you need to excersise (sp?) more - yiu're 2 inches larger than me on every measurement." To which I respond with, "I have joined a club* for a reason, yes. Also, pot, kettle." and poked her beer belly and grinned, to which she glared at me an dropped the subject.

I have meanwhile found out that my 1" heels which I was planning on wearing to this shindig are too small, so I guess I get to go shoe shopping for something navy to match the dress.

Also, there was an SDCC exclusive pony this year, and I forgot to check for one until I received a note about it from Hasbro this morning - and they're already sold out of it. I'm hoping someone will be willing to trade for one. :(

Otherwise, I'm off for work! Bye!

*Yes, I really have joined a health club. Specifically, LA Fitness, for which I get a really sweet deal through work, which is the only way I can actually afford to go in the first place. I have an evaluation there tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be able to find out what I should be doing to get back into shape. I've been biking to work when I can, but~.
